I have a few under the kitchen cabinet lights and the bulbs are so easy to remove. Not this light.I wanted to put in a softer light bulb but there is no way this cover is going to come off without breaking it. I looked at the directions in case there was a trick to it but to no avail will it come off.It seems like it is locked in. So I hope the bulb lasts for years otherwise I will have to buy a new one if the bulb goes out. It's a shame you can't go to the stores and look at then before you buy them.Other than that the light if fine.purchase one of these maybe every 3 to 5 years. plastic backing gets brittle over time (because in my kitchen this light is ALWAYS on) and warps/distorts the slots for the mounting screws. so when i notice the unit starting to sag, i just pop by a local hardware store (or this time amazon) and get a replacement, remount it, turn it on and not think about it for another several years.I needed this product. It was the exact same one.Purchased to replace an existing light. It arrived quickly and gives a nice bright light for my kitchen work area.Living in an apartment the lighting is next to nothing and there's no light above the kitchen sink. So my sister bought the light and installed it above the kitchen sink. It works better than the stovetop light and my sister can see to wash our dishes (wish we had a dishwasher!).I purchased three of these for starting seeds indoors and for lights for plants that are already growing. Some of my windows do not have enough light coming in for plants or to start seeds. I have two 10 gallon fish tanks that were given to me that I placed pots inside to start seeds. The fish tanks were pre-owned and did not come with lights. Lights for fish tanks cost too much. I was looking for a lower cost lighting solution. When I purchased these the price was lower, now I see they cost more. I had two pieces of scrap wood that I mounted the lights on and placed the lights over the fish tanks. The third light, I mounted on the ceiling of my basement which is over a shelf with some plants on the top shelf. The lights provide enough light for three plants in quart pots. The other two lights over the fish tanks, a couple of pots with seeds have sprouted and they are two inch high seedlings as of this review. The only complaint I have is how the lights mount. They have holes that you place on the screws, then you push the screws into slots. The screws that come with are a little too small for the holes and slots. The light mounted on the ceiling sometimes pops off the slots when I turn the light on or off. The other two lights I have plugged into a power switch, I turn of the power strip to turn off the lights. After the lights are mounted, I would recommend that you support the light with your hand when turning off and on. I have many spare screws and I could not find the right size screw, they were either too big or two small for the holes and slots. The other complaint is the price, when I purchased these they were under $9 for each one. I was thinking of buying more, I will not buy anymore for the increased price.Sure wish I could buy another one and have the wire come out on other side so I could install on my other cabinets.It was difficult to find something like this to replace one that died on me after many years (probably bad ballast). Everyone is pushing LED fixtures that cost much more for the same light output, or fluorescent models of similar size that can cost as much as some of the LED type.After a bit of Amazon searching, finally found this inexpensive item that's just about an exact replacement for my old fixture in terms of light output (used same size bulbs) and physical dimensions. My only initial issues with trying to decide whether to buy was the length dimension given was misleading, given as 21.7" in the Product Description section, so was not certain of fit into my 22" wide space. The actual length is about 18", same as my old fixture. With the erroneous 2.7" length I was also initially concerned about the switch location being on one of the ends and might not be inaccessible for my location, but finally was able to see in one of the item pictures that it's on the bottom. I was able to use existing installed mounting screws set from my old unit, just had to move one slightly over (even had a screw hole already in right place for that, left over from a still older unit) to fit the wider distance between the mounting holes for this fixture.For some reason, my order had a long stated delivery time (3 - 7+ weeks), not clear why, but 2 of 3 items arrived just 2 days later, and the this light fixture was delivered Sat onto my door step 8 days after the order.Considering that these fluorescent bulbs are not that less energy-efficient than LEDs (maybe about 65% vs. 90%), similar rated-life (20,000 vs. 25,000 hr.), the small power used (15W in this case), and my intermittent use of a few hours on some days at most, it's hard to justify paying $20-$30+ to buy a much a more expensive fluorescent fixture, or even more expensive LED type that could output about the same lumens.
