This is a big upgrade on the older bulb-style machine lights that I purchased a year ago from Woodworker Supply. Those units were relatively dim and generated a fair bit of heat. They also weren't bomb proof like this LED light. This light arrived well packaged, albeit I'm not sure if it really could be damaged in shipping. The construction consists of an extruded aluminum chassis with a LED light strip behind a relatively narrow sealed, tempered glass face. The ends are sealed with a blue gasket so that the entire unit is waterproof and explosion proof. The latter doesn't matter for everyone, but for spraying solvent-based paints it sure does.Since I don't have access to my machines at the moment, I mounted it as a side light on my spray booth using some magnets. It takes seconds to hook up an LED power supply. The feet mount easily onto the unit, and they allow the light to be tilted at an angle. The light is clear and bright, relatively cold compared to the halogen (explosion-proof) system in my booth. This style of light is very robust and rugged. You will have a hard time damaging it by smacking it with a tool, piece of wood, etc. This makes it a great option for machinery where the light may be hit inadvertently. I plan to eventually mount this on a 24" bandsaw (will post a later update). There are a few manufacturing imperfections. The threading on the feet isn't perfect, there is the odd nick. None of that really matters given the light's purpose.
